This historic moment marks the first time in the beauty pageant's history that a transgender woman has been crowned. As per reports, Tiffany was arrested following a fight at a former boyfriend’s house, when she was alleged to have assaulted both her former lover, his father, and a police officer, as well as damaging a vehicle at the detention centre following her arrest and was due to face trial. After arriving from Vietnam, Miss Grand Myanmar 2020 Thaw Nandar Aung aka Han Lay was denied entry to Thailand at Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok by immigration officials for not having a passport. Pol Maj-Gen Archayon Kraithong, spokesman for the Immigration Bureau, said that Han Lay was not in the possession of a passport or any official document equivalent to a passport and was not allowed to enter Thailand. He added that Han Lay will not be arrested but deported. As per the latest reports, she had been placed under the care of Interpol. A source said that Han Lay’s passport may have been revoked by Myanmar's military junta due to her anti-junta statement at the Miss Grand International 2020 pageant in Bangkok. The 27-year-old business owner beat 22 other contestants to win the crown, with the second and third place going to contestants from Colombia and France, respectively. "My first message to everyone is to spread love and peace and unity because that is the most important thing that we do as of the moment and what's happening in the world right now," said Ravena who wore a glittery-silver evening gown. The pageant, which was halted for almost two years because of the pandemic, resumed in the Thai seaside town of Pattaya during Pride Month to also celebrate gender equality, said Alisa Phanthusak, the CEO of Miss Tiffany Show, the organiser.
